The Graphic Design Study Program of the Faculty of Design and Visual Arts at Widyatama University Conducts Community Service Activities in Karyawangi Village, West Bandung Regency

Pratama Media News, Bandung City, West Java Province, Wednesday (07/12/2023) – The Graphic Design Study Program (Prodi) of the Faculty of Visual Communication Design (FDKV) at Widyatama University (UTama) carried out a Community Service (PkM) activity in the Karyawangi Village Hall, Parongpong District, West Bandung Regency. The PkM activity took the form of a training session attended by 22 participants from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

The event, themed “Creating Attractive Social Media Content Design: Training to Improve the Promotion of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Karyawangi Village, Parongpong District, West Bandung Regency,” took place on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time.

In addition to the training participants, the event was attended by the Deputy Dean of FDKV UTama, Drs. Budiman, M.M.Pd.; Head of the Graphic Design Study Program, Drs. Rudy Farid, C.P., M.Ds.; Drs. Muhamad Firdaus Benyamin, M.Sn. (lecturer); Annisa Bela Pertiwi, S.Pd., M.Pd. (lecturer); Mario Rinaldi, S.ST., M.Sn. (lecturer); Head of Karyawangi Village, Dadang Sudayat, S.E., and; Chair of the Puter Indonesia Foundation, Dr. Taryono Darusman, S.Si., M.Si.

Also present were five students from the Main FDKV Graphic Design Study Program who were involved in this PkM activity. They were Rian Ikmal Maulana, Moh. Aan Fauzan, Humaira Anindita, Arya Maulana, and Mochamad Virgy Ragia Saputra.

The PkM activity is one of the implementations of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi program, which involves lecturers and students. The Graphic Design Study Program of FDKV UTama collaborated with the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) UTama and the Puter Indonesia Foundation in this PkM activity.

The Head of Karyawangi Village, Dadang Sudayat, S.E., officially opened the Community Service Program (PkM) activity of the Widyatama University academic community in his area. He warmly welcomed the academics because they were very helpful in providing education to MSME actors in his village.

On this occasion, the Deputy Dean of FDKV UTama, Drs. Budiman, M.M. Pd, representing the Dean of FDKV Utama, Drs. Deden Maulana Anggakarti, M.Ds., said that his party was grateful to be present at the signing of the MoU between the Head of Karyawangi Village, the Chair of the Puter Indonesia Foundation, and the Dean of the Faculty of Visual Communication Design at Widyatama University, which was followed by community service.

“This event is a concrete form of our commitment, the Faculty of Visual Communication Design, Widyatama University, to make a positive and sustainable contribution to the community in the Parongpong District, West Bandung Regency,” said Budiman.

The Deputy Dean of FDKV Utama also expressed his gratitude to the Karyawangi Village government and the Puter Indonesia Foundation for their willingness to collaborate and support the implementation of this PkM activity. According to Budiman, without good cooperation, this community service would not have been able to achieve its objectives.

“In this community service event, we have several activities planned, namely Product Photography Training and Social Media Content Training. We also hope that this community service event will not be just a one-time activity, but can be the first step in a sustainable relationship,” said Budiman.

Furthermore, Budiman hopes that in the future his party can build a strong network, support each other, and continue community service programs that are beneficial to all parties.

“Our main goal is to provide tangible benefits, share knowledge, and improve the economic capacity of the community. We believe that with a spirit of mutual cooperation, care, and shared commitment, we can overcome the various challenges currently faced by the community. Let’s move forward together, share with each other, and bring about beneficial changes for the community of Karyawangi Village and the entire surrounding area,” concluded Budiman.

After the welcoming remarks, the event continued with the signing of an MoU between the Head of Karyawangi Village, the Chair of the Puter Indonesia Foundation, and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Visual Communication Design at Widyatama University, witnessed by all attendees. The signing serves as proof that social activities in the form of community service involving these parties will continue in the future.

Then the event continued with a training session for MSME actors in Karyawangi Village. The first session was a training on product photography using mobile phones, presented by Dr. Asep Deni, M.Sn. The second session was a training on creating social media content, presented by Mario Rinaldi, S.ST., M.Sn.

The event was closed with the distribution of certificates to all training participants and a group photo.
