SABACIREBON — Widyatama University students have once again made an achievement. This time, students from the D3 Management Study Program won a Silver Medal in a scientific writing competition held by Banda Neira University, Maluku. There were eight categories of scientific papers in the competition: Technology, Food, Law and Social Economics, Tourism and Culture, Agriculture, Health, Environment, and Education. The Silver Medal in the Tourism and Culture category was won by Wineu Cahyati, a 2022 D3 Management student, with a paper titled “A Guide Application to Support Tourism and the Creative Economy of Banda Neira for Indonesia Emas 2045,” supervised by D3 Management lecturer Eristy Minda Utami, SE., MM.
The scientific writing competition held on May 25th-26th, 2024, at Banda Naira University was attended by 25 groups of participants who qualified for the final round out of a total of 120 groups participating in the competition. “It was very enjoyable and an honor for me to compete and exchange ideas with other participants, considering the long journey by land, air, and sea that had to be taken to get to Banda Neira and present my ideas directly to the jury, including the rector of Banda Naira University.” Wineu Cahyati shared her experience after participating in the scientific writing competition, urging others to always strive for higher achievements.
“Keep up the spirit, read more, and be open to new ideas to develop innovations that are beneficial to Indonesia, and of course, find an environment that supports the development of our potential,” said Wineu. The NEIRA Competition is the first national competition held by the University of Banda Naira, Maluku Province. There are several stages in this competition, starting with each participating student registering and uploading their work to be assessed online. Participants who passed the online qualification round were entitled to advance to the next round by giving presentations in the semifinals and finals in person (offline).
Desy Oktaviani, a lecturer who graduated from the Tourism Management Study Program, Guangxi Normal University, China, who accompanied her students in the competition in Banda Neira, explained that the competition ran smoothly and the participants had given their best efforts with brilliant ideas offered for the advancement of the Indonesian nation. Furthermore, the D3 Management Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Widyatama University, will evaluate the achievements made at the NEIRA Competition 2024 and prepare other students to participate in the next competition, fully supporting students in developing their potential in every field of interest.
