Thursday (August 30) marked the third day of the Widyatama University Orientation Program (PPU), where all students wore black and white attire without any accessories and greeted their new status as university students with bright faces. The PPU activities, which will be held until September 8, 2018, offer very inspiring values every day. This time, new students were given information and education about the dangers of drug abuse by Haniz Hidayat, S.Sos, who presented material on the various types of drugs in Indonesia and the side effects of drug use.
The students listened enthusiastically to the information and warnings about the dangers of drug use from the Yayasan Sahabat Rekan Sebaya (Peer Friends Foundation). The event was very entertaining, interspersed with theatrical performances by former drug addicts and songs that provided insight and encouragement to stay away from these addictive substances.
The Sahabat Rekan Sebaya Foundation provided information and education about the dangers of drug abuse with Haniz Hidayat, S.Sos as the guest speaker, who presented material on the various types of drugs available in Indonesia and the side effects of drug use.
The event was also attended by representatives from the Bureau at Widyatama University, who would present other materials on the same day. The Student Affairs Bureau was represented by Iis Rostiawati, S.E., M.M., who gave a presentation on the guidelines for community service for students. This was followed by an explanation from the Widyatama Language Center regarding the functions of the unit and the importance of new students taking the incoming test. The Head of the Widyatama Language Center, Heri Heryono, S.S., M.Hum, explained that students who excel in the Incoming Test are entitled to enter the reward system, whereby participants who score 500 or more on the Incoming Test will be exempt from attending General English and Academic English courses.
Lecturers and mentors provide guidance to new students
On this occasion, PPU participants were also given guidance from mentors and lecturer representatives from each faculty on how to use gadgets and the internet to support the teaching and learning process. This is to support the learning of students who will apply the E-learning system (online learning) in several courses. (Ed)
