Friday (September 11), the disappearance of ospek as a school and university orientation tradition does not mean that university introduction activities no longer exist. If the orientation period is filled with inappropriate activities, especially if it is left entirely to the seniors without supervision, hazing will occur.
With a different approach, Widyatama University has transformed orientation into the University Introduction Program (PPU). The Student Affairs Bureau, as the bureau that oversees student activities, has formulated new PPU activities together with the Student Government and the Student Legislative Council. The PPU agenda includes an overview of campus facilities, lecture schemes, lecture payments, academic activities, and an introduction to the Student Executive Board (BEM) and Student Activity Units (UKM).
Students are given motivational seminars, presentations on drug awareness, environmental care programs, and the highlight of the event, which is an entrepreneurship-based expo. The creativity week involved a committee consisting of members of the Student Government and volunteers from the class of 2014 and earlier. “With this expo program, the sense of family among all new Widyatama students has become stronger. In addition, we are trained in entrepreneurship, such as product selling tactics,” said Anasya, a new student at the Faculty of Business and Management, Widyatama University. The two-day event (September 10-11, 2015) was also attended by UKM booths that were recruiting new members.
