Parents are expected to not only prepare their children academically, but also mentally for these final exams. In addition, parents need to obtain clearer information from the authorities, particularly the education office, about the details and nature of the national final exams. Recognizing the importance of the preparations parents must make in facing the National Final Exams, Widyatama University Bandung, in collaboration with the Bandung Education Journalists Community (Kom JPB) and the Bandung City Education Office, will hold a talk show entitled “The Role of Parents in Preparing Children Mentally for the National Final Exams” on Saturday, March 28, 2009, in the Seminar Room on the 4th floor of the building.
Widyatama Rectorate, Jalan Cikutra 204 A Bandung. Paulus Hidajat Prasetya (psychologist), Oji Mahroji (Head of the Bandung City Education Office), and Dr. Petrina Faustine, SE., MM., M.Sc. (academic) will be present to discuss various matters related to the National Final Exams and the role of parents. According to the Head of the Public Relations & Marketing Bureau of Widyatama University, Fitrah Rumaisa, many parents whose children are facing the national final exams are overcome with anxiety. Among other things, they worry that their children will fail to meet the standards set for the National Final Exams.
Ultimately, parents are unprepared to accept the consequences of such failure. Fitrah said that this phenomenon is one of the characteristics of education in Indonesia today. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare early on what steps parents should take when their children are preparing for the national final exams.
