UTama Library and Information Science Study Program, Providing Assistance for the Development of the West Java BKKBN Digital Library

Lecturers from the Library and Information Science Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Widyatama (UTama) collaborated with the Informatics Engineering Study Program to conduct a Community Service (PkM) activity at the West Java Provincial BKKBN Representative Office in Bandung.

Aminudin ST., M.Kom., a lecturer and Head of the PkM Cluster, explained that the activity was held some time ago, specifically on Thursday (18/2/2022).

The event featured a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme “Development of Digital Libraries at the West Java Provincial Representative Office of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN)”.

The West Java Provincial BKKBN is located at Jl. Surapati No.122, Cihaur Geulis, Cibeunying Kaler District, Bandung City, West Java 40122.

The FGD activity was conducted online using the Zoom application.

“The participants consisted of five lecturers from the Library and Information Science Study Program. From the Informatics Engineering Lecturers, Ari Purno Wahyu, S.T., M.T., five students from the Library and Information Science Study Program, six students from the Informatics Engineering Study Program, and a representative from the West Java Provincial BKKBN, Theresia Valentina A.M.G, S.T.,” said Aminudin, Friday (18/3/2022).

The FGD discussed the results of the analysis of digital library needs at the West Java Provincial BKKBN representative office and determined the timing and technical aspects of its development.

The development of the digital library will be carried out when students take the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program in the even semester, in early March 2022. It will be carried out by students from the Library and Information Science Study Program and students from the Information Technology Study Program.

Aminudin further explained that the purpose of the activity was to provide assistance in developing a digital library at the West Java BKKBN representative office.

In addition, it was an effort to improve the competence of UTama students in real life.

In developing the digital library, the students will not be left to their own devices but will be guided by the Head of the Library and Information Science Study Program, Diah Sri Rejeki, S.Sos, M.I.Kom, and a supervisor from the Informatics Engineering Study Program, Ari Purno Wahyu, S.T., M.T.

During the FGD, Theresia Valentina, representing the BKKBN West Java digital library, expressed her hope that the development of digital library features could be implemented soon. This would allow the features to be utilized by the wider community who are members of the BKKBN West Java digital library.
