UTAMA collaborated with the Sampoerna Foundation Scholar Club to hold the Fun Try Out 2008 event

The Faculty of Business and Management at Widyatama University collaborated with the Sampoerna Foundation Scholar Club (SFSC) to hold a simulation of the New Student Admission Selection (SPMB) for high school students in Bandung. Entitled “Fun Try Out – Burn Your Motivation,” this event is the third try out ever held by SFSC Bandung. Held at Widyatama University, the event was attended by approximately 1,200 high school students who wanted to improve their readiness for the 2008 SPMB. The try-out opened with a speech from the Head of the FBM Study Program, H. Tendi Haruman S.E, M.M., followed by a Barongsai performance from the Widyatama University Student Activity Unit (UKM) in Bandung, which was then continued with a presentation by H. Lili Irahali, Drs. as the Head of the PR and Marketing Bureau of Widyatama University. Subsequently, the officers and scholarship recipients from the Sampoerna Foundation provided information and shared insights about domestic undergraduate scholarships.

The scholarship, worth approximately 80 million rupiah, attracted the interest of the tryout participants and motivated them to win it. After the presentation, the participants began working on the 2008 SPMB prediction questions for 150 minutes. After completing the SPMB prediction questions, to relieve boredom after working on the SPMB simulation questions, the participants were entertained by a performance from the PomPom boys from the Widyatama University Student Activity Unit (UKM). There were also acoustic performances from the d’insidental band and the Mes Amis (read: Mezami) band. The highlight of the fun tryout event was a talk show themed “Success Through the Gate of Education” with Andrea Hirata, author of the Laskar Pelangi tetralogy, and Iwan Ridwansyah S.E, M.M, a business practitioner from Widyatama University.

The talk show was moderated by Iben Yuzenho Ismarso, Performance Manager at Bank Danamon Jakarta. It is hoped that this talk show will motivate the tryout participants to continue their education to a higher level. The Fun Try Out concluded with a door prize draw featuring a smartphone, an MP3 player, and a flash drive. Additionally, prizes included dining vouchers from Bebek van Java and other attractive merchandise. For participants with the highest scores in each of the Science (IPA) and Social Studies (IPS) programs, Widyatama University offered free admission tests and waived registration fees. Furthermore, the two top-performing participants will also receive other prizes in the form of cash worth 300 thousand rupiah, free English lesson vouchers at The British Institute (TBI) worth approximately 2 million rupiah, and free super intensive courses at the Nurul Fikri tutoring center. For the top ranks, Nurul Fikri also provides super intensive discount vouchers.
