Students who are members of the Student Government, Student Affairs Institute, and Student Organization (LKOK) of Widyatama University (UTama) distributed thousands of meal boxes directly to the homes of Bandung residents who were undergoing self-isolation (Isoman) due to exposure to COVID-19.
The distribution took place in 6 RT areas in Sukajadi, Cibeunying, Arcamanik, and other parts of Bandung City.
Bambang Teguh Munajat, President of the UTama Student Government (Pema), explained that he and his colleagues worked together to distribute the meal boxes over three days, starting on Wednesday (July 28, 2021).
Additionally, they collaborated to assist the community kitchen established at Lapangan Abra, Sukajadi.
“We distributed the boxed meals to residents undergoing self-isolation, based on the data we received. On the first and second days, we distributed around 3,000 boxed meals each day. On the third day, we distributed around 400 meals, including vitamins,” said Bambang on Friday (7/30/2021) evening.

Bambang added that 30 students participate in the daily activities. They are divided into several teams. In addition to the distribution team, there are also those who help prepare boxed meals in the public kitchen.
He also revealed that UTama students were moved to ease the burden and help people who were undergoing isolation, which is also a form of concern and service to the community.
“We also collaborate with Uncle Teebob, a social media activist who has a high social spirit, to help people in need,” said Bambang, who is currently enrolled as a sixth semester student in Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering.
“Actually, this activity is part of the Abdi UTama program, which is divided into three activities. In addition to distributing boxed meals and vitamins, on Tuesday (7/27/2021), we also distributed basic food supplies, masks, and hand sanitizer to residents of RW XI, Sukapada Village, near our campus,” he added.
In the last activity, he and his colleagues will provide basic food assistance to small traders selling around Jalan Cikutra No. 204-A, Bandung City.
“The plan is to distribute basic food supplies and cash to small traders around our campus who have been affected by COVID-19 on Saturday (July 31, 2021),” said Bambang.
When asked about the funding for this activity, he explained that the funds were collected from students who were part of the organizing committee, donations from UTama students, the UTama Student Affairs Bureau, and donations from the community.
Pema, LKOK & UTama Students Become Volunteers for Mass Vaccination
Another community service activity carried out by UTama students was volunteering to ensure the success of the first wave of mass vaccination for students and the general public.
Held at the UTama Multipurpose Building, Jalan Cikutra No. 204-A, on Tuesday (7/27/2021).
Approximately 78 students were recruited as volunteers for the event. According to Bambang, they consisted of student senate members, student government members, and UTama students who did not participate in LKOK.
During the event, the volunteers were assigned to several tasks, such as data collection, reporting, certification, directing residents who were going to be vaccinated, and others.
The Gebyar Vaksin event also involved 6 doctors, 19 assistant doctors, 23 medical assistants, 4 student affairs officers, and 2 people from LP2M UTama.
“As students, this is clearly a source of pride for us, being able to help make the government program a success. This includes the application of the three pillars of higher education, and it is a form of community service, especially for the community around Widyatama University who participated in the vaccination process,” concluded Bambang.
It should be noted that the vaccination was attended by around 1,300 people, consisting of students, lecturers, and employees of UTama. This includes the community in the Cibeunying Kidul sub-district, which covers the villages of Sukapada, Cikutra, Pasirlayung, Sukamaju, Padasuka, and Cicadas.
The second phase of the vaccination program is planned to take place around August 24th, 2021, at the same location.
