Several lecturers from the Information Systems Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Widayatama University (UTama), conducted research in Parongpong District, West Bandung Regency.
The research focused on village information system products, specifically a website and an Android-based application for creating certificates, on Monday (December 27, 2021).
They invited representatives from the PKK cadres, RT heads, and RW heads to observe the extent of information technology’s role. They were also provided with training.
The Head of the Community Service Cluster from the Information Systems Study Program, Dr. M. Rozahi Istambul, S.Kom., M.T., said that the use of information technology in today’s era has become a culture in society, including those in rural areas. He did this together with two members of his team, Hari Supriadi, ST., M.Kom and Aminuddin, ST., M.Kom.
“With the application developed, matters such as business certificates, residence certificates, and other certificates can be requested via the application, which is directly connected to the village or sub-district. However, verification will still be conducted by the RT/RW,” said Rozahi.
“The implementation of this community service cluster activity is related to the ”workshop on the use of village community service applications“ which was held in Parongpong District,” he added.
Rozahi further said that the research activity was also part of the independent learning campus independence (MBKM) program related to collaborative learning.
Therefore, in addition to faculty members, eight students from the Information Systems Program, who are currently participating in the MBKM program, also took part in the activity.
The outcomes of the activity will be recognized and evaluated as part of several course credits.
The training on information service applications for village communities can also improve the performance of village office staff in Parongpong Subdistrict.
In addition, the community can also see the progress made by their village government through the website.

Rozahi also explained that this activity was supported by funding from the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Policy Research Program and Community Service Based on Research Results and Prototypes of PTS Ditjen Diktiristek for the 2021 fiscal year.
Present at the event was Parongpong Subdistrict Head Iwan Mustawan, M.Ap., who provided guidance on the importance of the community becoming literate in information technology, so that current technological developments can be utilized effectively.
