“Humility is the Key to Great Leadership”
The greatness of a leader does not lie in what they have achieved, but rather begins with a humble attitude of willingness to serve and meet the needs of those they lead. To achieve good leadership, there needs to be a unification of administration, management, and leadership within an organization. This was stated by the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Freddy Numberi, when delivering a public lecture on the topic of Leadership Throughout the Ages at the Widyatama University (UTama) campus in Bandung on Saturday (11/20).
“Management is the core of administration, and leadership is the core of management,” he explained in front of around 1,000 Widyatama University students. Freddy added that there are various types of leadership, namely autocratic, bureaucratic, democratic, and liberal. “However, the most suitable type in this era of globalization is the democratic type, which of course requires adjustments in the context of the situation on the ground,” he said.
Freddy further noted that a leader must possess core values to lead their organization, namely loyalty, duty, integrity, honor, perseverance, belief, and respect. (Public Relations)
