Prof. Dr. Hj. Koesbandijah Abdoelkadir, MS., Ak.

On Monday, April 28, 2014, the Widyatama Family held a memorial service (1st anniversary) for the passing of Prof. Dr. Hj. Koesbandijah Abdoelkadir, MS. Ak. binti Rd. Yudho Seputro.

The commemoration was attended by around 200 Widyatama residents in the form of a majlis ta’lim, mau’idzoh hasanah, reading dzikir, tahlil, as well as reading the Al-Qur’an and praying together.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Foundation Management Board, T. Ontowiryo, expressed his deepest gratitude for the attention and presence of the Widyatama residents. Meanwhile, the Rector also offered prayers for Mrs. Koebandijah (late) even though she could not attend the commemoration.

The Chairman said: Insha Allah, all the kindness and sincerity of everyone here will be counted by Allah as righteous deeds and rewarded by Allah’s mercy, with a meaningful life and a good death. Insya Allah, by remembering the good deeds of the deceased that we can emulate, especially for her children, so that they can faithfully carry out her advice, this 1-year commemoration of her passing will have a positive impact on all of us, especially for all the teachers and staff of Widyatama, whom she entrusted with her legacy. because when she established this foundation, she intended to carry out righteous deeds by establishing an education center to educate the nation and raise a generation with high moral character.

The late Widyatama’s last wish was for Widyatama to remain consistent in educating and adding a stronger spiritual element to it. The deceased once said sadly that many highly educated people are very poor in character. For this reason, the deceased wanted Widyatama to start by adding religious activities. For those who are Muslim, he had planned, although not officially, to study the Quran and Sunnah, because that is the basis of Islam.

Meanwhile, Ustadzah Hj. Fatimah Avalfo Suprayogi reminded us that death is a certainty. However, no one knows when their day will come, so everyone should always be prepared. And of course, Husnul Khotimah must be the choice. To achieve this, one must follow the Sharia, by carrying out all the commands and avoiding all the prohibitions of Allah SWT. Isn’t it sunnatullah for every human being that faith ebbs and flows? Sometimes it increases and sometimes it decreases. Therefore, we need to nurture it, especially when our faith is at a critical moment.

To heal a hardened heart, the scholars recommend: reading the Quran and Dzikrullah, humbling oneself and crying before Allah, attending gatherings of knowledge that contain Tadabbur Quran and Dzikir as well as Hadith, Dzikrul Maut (remembering death), witnessing sakaratul maut and Ziarah Kubur.

At the end of her sermon, Ustadzah Hj. Fatimah Avalfo Suprayogi reminded us of the four mysteries of death: when we will die, where we will die, the cause of our death, and where we will be buried—these are Allah’s secrets. Therefore, the best of humanity are those who always remember death and always do good deeds.
