Bandung Mayor Dada Rosada is confirmed to attend the talk show “The Role of Students in Preserving the Environment” which will be held on Thursday (12/15/2011). The talk show will be held at the Widyatama University multipurpose building (GSG) and will feature not only the Mayor of Bandung but also the Head of the Bandung City Regional Environmental Management Agency (BPLHD), Ahmad Rekotomo.

“The current alarming state of the environment has encouraged students to take concrete action in preserving and protecting the surrounding environment, at least our learning environment, the Widyatama campus,” said Indra Rahmadika, Chair of the event. We are taking concrete steps to preserve the environment by planting 20 simojang guava trees donated by the Bandung City Parks Agency around the Widyatama campus. This will be done symbolically by “Kang” Dada (the mayor’s nickname) before the event begins, added the 2010 Accounting major.

This event is part of the 2nd Lustrum celebration of Widyatama University and the 39th anniversary of the Widyatama Foundation, which has produced over 13,000 graduates who are now working in various fields. As a form of environmental awareness and an effort to promote going green among the academic community, this activity is expected to become a trend among academics to protect the environment, at least their immediate surroundings.
