The Widyatama University Alumni Association (IKA UTama) held a mass vaccination event for the first dose for residents of Sukapada Village, Cibeunying Kidul District, Bandung City.
Approximately 750 Sukapada residents participated in the event, which was held at the UTama Multipurpose Building (GSG), Jalan Cikutra No. 204-A, Bandung City.
Anderson, S.E., M.M., Chair of IKA UTama, who was present at the event, said that this activity was one of the implementations of the three pillars of higher education.

“This vaccination activity is also in line with the government’s program. We want to do something, especially for the local community. As alumni, we do not forget to fulfill our university duties, one of which is community service. That is our goal,“ said Anderson, who serves as Business Director of Manulife Indonesia Life Insurance, on Thursday (8/26/2021).
”The point is that IKA UTama can give something back to the community. The more people who are vaccinated, the more families will be healthier and protected from the pandemic. Hopefully, this activity can also be sustainable,” added the IKA Chair, who has served since 2012.
He also hopes that foundations and educational institutions will support the mass vaccination program organized by IKA UTama.
“Of course, this is an ongoing effort. It’s not just for now. We want to collaborate with anyone. Especially during this pandemic, we are working together to save our own nation, because many have been affected and even lost their lives,” said Anderson, a UTama student from the class of ’83, which was formerly known as STIEB.
Anderson added that with this mass vaccination, the community can become healthier, and with better health, the economy will improve. This includes the small community.
That way, the economy can also recover quickly as targeted by the government, so that by 2022, life can return to normal.
Meanwhile, Syarif, a resident of Sukapada Village, along with his wife Riska, deliberately came to participate in the IKA UTama mass vaccination.
He, who works in the wedding industry, and his wife, who is a makeup artist, did not waste the opportunity to get the Sinovac vaccine.
He also hopes that by getting vaccinated, wedding-related activities in Bandung City can once again be held smoothly.

“I happen to be a member of a wedding association, which requires its members to be vaccinated,” said Syarif.
“Thank you for facilitating this vaccination activity. Especially since it was held in a large building. There was a bit of a queue earlier. But overall, it was comfortable, and everything was well-organized, so it went smoothly,” said Syarif and Riska.
According to observations by majalahsora.com, people flocked to GSG UTama from morning until evening. However, they continued to comply with the existing health protocols.
Before entering the UTama campus, their body temperature was checked by security officers and they were given a sign indicating that their body temperature was normal.
Those who had been vaccinated were also given a gift bag containing supplements, vitamins, hand sanitizer, a small towel, and medical masks.
The success of the event was also made possible through collaboration with the Widyatama Foundation, Widyatama University, Sukapada Village, Pasirlayung Community Health Center, LP2M UTama, UTama Student Affairs Bureau, and others.
