On Friday (10/14), the Industrial Engineering Student Association of Widyatama University (UTama) held a competition themed Industrial Competition of Education (ICE). This three-day event (October 14-16, 2016) invited high school students or equivalent to participate in the competition. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the number of teams that registered for the quiz competition prepared by the committee.
The first day began with an opening ceremony attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Oktri Muhammad Firdhaus, as well as the Head of the Industrial Engineering Study Program, Dr. Didit Damur Rochman, S.T., M.T., and the Secretary of the Widyatama Foundation Management Board, H. Marcus Kasirin, S.E., MM.
Held at the UTama multipurpose auditorium, the competition ran smoothly and the participants were very enthusiastic about the questions given. The competition and tryout were fully supported by Tridaya Tutoring and other media partners who helped publicize the event, which was held for the first time by the Industrial Engineering Association.
The winners of the quiz competition were Alfacentauri High School as the first winner, followed by SMAN 1 Margahayu as the runner-up and the third winner (teams 1 and 2).
The tryout, which was held on Sunday (16/10), was attended not only by students from Bandung City, but also by enthusiastic participants from several nearby cities, namely Cimahi and Bandung Regency. Oktri hopes that the ICE event series will serve as a platform for networking between high schools and their equivalents with UTama. This networking should not only involve students but also their mentors. He also desires the implementation of sustainability initiatives by each cohort within the Industrial Engineering Student Association.
