Also present at the comparative study were the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Widyatama University, Dr. Oktri Muhammad Firdaus, the Dean of the Faculty of Languages, Dr. Hero Gunawan, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Visual Communication Design, Mr. Bidiman M.Pd, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Mrs. Dr. Rita Yuniarti, S.E., M.M Ak., CA, along with representatives from several bureaus at Widyatama University.

The event began with a speech from the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Planning and Cooperation at Widyatama University, Dr. Ir. Dyah Kusumastuti, M.Sc, followed by a speech from Mrs. Karmanah. In her speech, Dyah conveyed that the role of the Career Center in higher education is very important in supporting government programs that aim to reduce unemployment in Indonesia. Currently, the government, through the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, is working to reduce unemployment by developing a program to foster an entrepreneurial spirit in students while they are still in higher education. Naturally, the Career Center must develop programs to support the government’s vision.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Karmanah said in her speech that the purpose of the activity was based on a recommendation from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education because the Widyatama Career Center, as the West Java Career Center Coordinator appointed by the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, had successfully obtained a Tracer Study Grant. In addition, it was also to obtain information about the activities carried out by the Widyatama University Career Center. The Widyatama University Career Center is a separate unit tasked with developing the quality of human resources to create a competent, ready-to-work, and competitive workforce. It is managed by three people, namely the Head of the Career Center and two sub-division heads covering corporate relations, tracer studies, and corporate cooperation.

The Widyatama University Career Center’s programs include mediating between job seekers and companies/agencies/industries that are in need of workers. The activities carried out by the Career Center are career preparation programs (seminars and training), organizing job fairs, gatherings between alumni, companies as users, and study programs, as well as conducting tracer studies. After a question and answer session, souvenirs were exchanged. The group was then invited to tour the various units at Widyatama University.

“It is hoped that this activity will motivate the Career Center at UNB Bogor to optimize its services through the support of the entire academic community,” added Ms. Karmanah at the closing session of the comparative study.
