The signing of the MOA aims to raise awareness about education for people with disabilities (autism), so that they are not deprived of education. Children with disabilities should not be excluded or confined because they disturb the community. We can minimize this when we understand how to treat children with disabilities.
On Thursday, January 15, 2015, the Widyatama Art Therapy Center, in collaboration with the Bandung City Social Service and Radio Republik Indonesia, held a Memorandum of Agreement at the Widyatama University Seminar Room, 6th Floor, Building B.
The event was attended by representatives from the Deputy Governor of West Java, the Principal of SLB and equivalent schools, the Bandung City Social Service, the Chair of Radio Republik Indonesia, and PORTADIN Bandung City.
The event began with a performance by students from the Widyatama Art Therapy Center, interspersed with a video showing their preparations for the event. The first speech was delivered by the Chairman of the Widyatama University Foundation, Mr. T. Ontowiryo, S.E., MBA. “A space and place for children with disabilities is very much needed. This is where the Widyatama Foundation facilitates people with disabilities by building an Art Therapy Center for art and design,” said Mr. Onto in his speech.
Parents need guidance so that they can better understand and guide their children with disabilities (autism) so that they are not blind to education. An important role must also come from the government, especially the social services agency. This agency has recorded children with disabilities, especially in West Java Province.
After the speeches, the event continued with an interactive dialogue with representatives from the social services agency, the Chair of ATC, and the Chair of RRI Bandung.
The signing of the MOA aims to raise awareness about education for people with disabilities, so they are not left behind in education. We must ensure that children with disabilities are not marginalized or confined because they disturb the surrounding community. This can be minimized when we understand how to treat children with disabilities.
With this collaboration, many parties hope that students with disabilities will have a place in their surrounding communities, even recover, and play an important role in their communities.
