At SMAN 21 Bandung City UTama Information Systems Study Program Shares Tricks for Optimal and Interesting Online Learning

Dr. M. Rozahi Istanbul, S.Kom., MT, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Widyatama University (UTama) and Hari Supriadi, ST, M.Kom., Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, provided training to the teachers of SMAN 21 Bandung, Friday (10/9/2021).

They provide material on strategies and the effectiveness of online learning in a high school environment. Next, provide training on optimizing the use of the Moodle platform.

“This is a routine activity and our obligation for each study program at UTama to carry out Community Service activities. Alhamdulillah, this time I was given the trust to do PKM at SMAN 21 Bandung. We share about online learning at UTama so far, including optimizing the Moodle platform. We happen to be lecturers in information systems,” said Rozahi.

Rozahi, who delivered material on strategies and effectiveness of online learning, explained that it was very important for teachers and lecturers to deliver material optimally. Especially in the era of online learning, which has been running for more than a year because of the pandemic, so students don’t get bored while studying online.

“In order not to get bored with the techniques, one of them is understanding the characteristics of students. It is like that today is the era of Generation Z in their context, the generation that understands the use of technology. So they are not good listeners, they will be bored if they have studied for 30 minutes,” he explained.
“Especially if they study for 40 minutes they are bored. Of course, teachers or lecturers must have a strategy on how to make students more active. What we know as student center learning, becomes the center of learning. The activity is in the students, no longer in the teachers and lecturers,” added Rozahi.

He also spoke about the advantages of the Moodle platform, which has long been used in lectures at UTama. Although in every educational unit already using other applications.

“Moodle itself is known all over the world. Results from student dissertation research, originally used in Australia. The first free open source and completeness of various theme facilities that can be done in Moodle,” said Rozahi.
Moodle itself, said Rozahi, is an online learning platform that is not much different from face-to-face learning.

He added that the platform can be used for virtual learning/teleconference, giving subject matter, giving assignments, holding tests, administration, absenteeism, controlling student-teacher activities, assessments, and others. What’s more

At UTama, Rozahi said, he has been using Moodle since 2013.

“We have used it for a long time, so we share the learning experiences at UTama. We have also done optimally,” said Rozahi.
