ART THERAPY CENTER WIDYATAMA, commonly abbreviated as ATC, is an institution established by the Widyatama Foundation as a concrete platform for scientific contributions and the involvement of persons with disabilities as part of its community service mission. As a therapy center based on art, design, psychology, and related fields, it focuses on developing life skills and behavior for people with disabilities at the national level. It also produces graduates with disabilities who are capable of working in the creative industry.
ART THERAPY CENTER WIDYATAMA currently has two educational programs:
1. Special Treatment: Activities for children with physical and mental disabilities in the low function/mentally retarded category, aged at least 6 years old. Treatment includes audio-visual sensory-based therapy, motor skills, and language therapy according to each child’s case to build behavioral and life skills.
2. Regular (LPK Graphic Design) Activities for children with physical and mental disabilities in the middle to high function category, aged 16 to 25 years old, high school graduates or equivalent. The therapy system is based on the development of behavior and life skills through a learning system that includes audio, visual, motor,
and language with psychological treatment facilities.
Regular activities are aimed at preparing for the establishment of the Widyatama Indonesia Disability Academy (ADWI) through an arts and design-based job training system that includes:
1. Creativity, invention, innovation, and modification
2. Technical, manual, and digital skills
3. Business plan
4. Entrepreneurship
5. Internships
2016 ART & DESIGN OLYMPICS FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES Widyatama Art Therapy Center
initiated the 2016 Art and Design Olympics as a way to address several issues surrounding disability in Indonesia. The background is the lack of public understanding of the opportunities in the field of art and design for people with physical and mental disabilities. Art is often used as a ‘side activity’ without clear management for their future. In fact, through a concrete work system, policy connections, and industry opportunities, people with disabilities are able to work on art and design projects as has been implemented at the Widyatama Art Therapy Center. Their work has market value, therefore they have the right to be productive in this field as a job or business. The Art and Design Olympics aims to identify the quality of the work of people with physical and mental disabilities in this creative field. The judges are practitioners, users, and government representatives. Industry representation opens up opportunities for people with disabilities to work in this sector. This allows them to be trained to work and earn their own income. The Art and Design Olympics, held for the first time in Indonesia, is an opportunity for people with physical and mental disabilities who are interested in this field, and as an alternative to achieving abilities outside the fields of science or sports.
COMPETITION CATEGORIES
a. Graphic Design
Poster design competition on the right to work for people with disabilities with the theme “Facilities and Accessibility for People with Disabilities” Comic strip competition with the theme “Facilities and Accessibility for People with Disabilities”
b. Painting
A painting competition with the theme “Harmony” using any technique, acrylic paint on canvas, and other media (natural materials that are unique to each region).
c. Photography
A photography competition with the theme “The Charm of the Archipelago” highlighting the diversity of local architecture, arts, and traditional events, etc.
d. Crafts
A competition to create accessories (necklaces, bracelets, earrings) with the theme “Local Diversity” highlighting the diversity of local architecture, arts, and traditional events, etc.

Accessory-making competition (necklaces, bracelets, earrings) with the theme “Bead Craftsmanship.” Free technique, using traditional Indonesian fabrics from their respective regions as the main material, and other materials are permitted as supporting materials.
e. Music
Group band performance competition (maximum 5 members), either acoustic or electric, with original songs or songs from favorite bands and songs determined by the competition committee. Arrangements must carry a regional feel.
Solo Vocal Performance Competition. Perform 2 songs, 1 mandatory song determined by the committee and 1 free song in Indonesian, while still carrying the regional nuances that are characteristic of their respective regions.
Songwriting Competition, in the form of complete lyrics with sheet music and arrangements. The theme is free, but there must still be elements of the regional nuances in each work.
