Thursday (August 17) All leaders of the Widyatama Foundation and University, along with the academic community, held a flag ceremony in the campus parking lot at exactly 8:00 a.m. This ceremony was held as a form of respect for the heroes who sacrificed their blood, sweat, and lives for the benefit of the nation and state, especially heroes in the field of education. The ceremony was solemn, with the Inspector of the ceremony being the Rector of Widyatama University, Dr. H. Islahuzzaman, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA. In his speech, which conveyed the message from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, the Inspector urged his staff to emulate the fighting spirit of the heroes, with the tagline “Indonesia Works Together.” The Indonesian people must continue to strive and work towards better education. Islah explained that mutual cooperation is the root of Indonesian culture, which is a manifestation of harmonious togetherness. Gotong royong has also become the most effective social glue, regardless of race, ethnicity, and religion, to achieve noble goals.

“Through this motto, the people are reminded to come together in unity despite their differences and continue the struggle to become a respectable nation,” said Islah in the circular letter.
The central government has already decided on the theme and logo to be used as the branding for the series of activities to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The theme for HUT RI 2017 is “72 Years of Indonesia Working Together.” The HUT RI 2017 logo also features the number ‘72’ and the phrase “INDONESIA KERJA BERSAMA” (Indonesia Working Together).
The ceremony concluded with the singing of independence songs by the Widyatama University choir.
