On Saturday, May 31, 2008, the Chair of the Widyatama Foundation Management Board, Prof. Dr. Koesbandijah A. K., M.S., Ak., inaugurated a new library building named the Loka Widyatama Library Building. The building, which was constructed on a 3537 m2 plot of land, functions as a library and lecture hall.
In his inauguration speech, the Chair of the Foundation’s Management Board said that in shaping a person’s knowledge, the various disciplines learned in school are not enough. Students must continue to open their minds and develop their talents, because education is a lifelong process.
In terms of quality, the educational process in educational institutions must develop students’ spiritual, intellectual, cultural, and technological abilities. In addition, supporting educational institutions such as libraries must be available. Libraries are the heart of education. Various sources of information such as national and international journals and digital libraries must be available in libraries.

Meanwhile, the Rector emphasized that college graduates are required to have qualities that are in line with the needs of scientific and technological developments. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of education, the mindset that considers a diploma to be the only important thing in pursuing higher education must be changed. This is because a diploma is meaningless if it is not accompanied by motivation and hard work. University graduates are required to possess qualities that align with the demands of scientific and technological advancements.
The three-story building:
- The first floor is used as a general book collection room,
- The second floor is used as a discussion room and reference collection room, and
- The top floor is used as an IT development room, where users will be provided with internet facilities, both wired and wireless (Hotspot).
In addition to this three-story library building, there are also 18 lecture rooms, with six classrooms on each floor. On this occasion, the inscription was signed by the Chair of the Foundation’s Management Board, followed by the handover of the Loka Widyatama Library to the Rector of Widyatama University in the form of the signing of the building handover letter and the handover of the keys.
The event, which was attended by lecturers and employees, was also attended by invited guests who are partners of Widyatama University. The event was enlivened by a peacock dance, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and concluded with a tour of the building and a reception. Meanwhile, the Project Manager and Head of the Environment Department at Widyatama University, Yudha Adidharma, S.T., stated that the construction of the building took 365 working days, with a budget allocation of around 11.6 billion rupiah, including the relocation of the basketball court and the Student Activity Unit (UKM) room.
