The Ragunan Jakarta High School taekwondo team won the overall championship at the UTAMA Cup V National Taekwondo Championship for high schools and vocational schools on February 28, 2009. With a total of 5 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals, Ragunan outperformed the B team from SMA 6 Bandung, which earned 4 gold and 1 silver medal, and SMA Yuppentek Tangerang, which secured 2 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal. The three-day national championship was held at the Widyatama University Multipurpose Building and was attended by no less than 30 high schools from all over Indonesia. In the Men’s Fin class, Fathan Karimula contributed 1 gold medal for SMA 1 Cigombong, followed by his teammate Hanum Mirnawati in the Women’s Fin class. In the Men’s Flyweight class, Team B from SMA Negeri 6 Bandung won gold, achieved by Rahmah Nurulhak and her teammate Gardena, who also won 1 gold in the Women’s Featherweight class. In the Men’s Welterweight and Women’s Bantamweight classes, gold medals were won by Joko Susanto and Indah Ma’rifah from SMA Ragunan Jakarta, respectively.
In the Feather Men’s class, Oki Putra Aryan won gold for his team, SMA 4 Siantar. In the Light Men’s class, SMA Ragunan Jakarta contributed another gold medal by Ahmad Archie, while in the Light Women’s class, Rhanti Rizwanah contributed a gold medal for team B of SMA 6 Bandung. Not to be outdone, SMA 3 Purwokerto won one gold medal in the Flyweight Men’s category, and in the Middleweight Men’s category, M. Rizki from SMA 22 Bandung contributed one gold medal.
In the Women’s Welterweight class, athlete Yuliana from SMA 64 Jakarta won 1 gold medal. The best male and female athletes at this National Championship were Oki Putera Aryan from SMA Siantar in the Men’s Featherweight class and Rhanti Rizwanah from SMA 6 Bandung in the Women’s Lightweight class.
