The Student Senate of the Faculty of Engineering, Widyatama University (SEMA FT UTama) held the “Widyatama Technology Event 2009” (WTE ’09) for 3 days from April 21, 22, and 25, 2009, at the Multipurpose Building (GSG) of Widyatama University. The event, themed “Technology for Your Future,” consisted of a series of activities ranging from seminars, talk shows, workshops, to hacking competitions.
The event began with a short workshop discussing “Google Adsense,” an alternative business during times of crisis. With an English-language website or blog, one can register for the Adsense program. We will earn profits from the advertisements placed on our websites or blogs every time they are visited. “The more often a website or blog is visited, the more profits are generated in the form of money,” said Zul Amri, keynote speaker and owner of the website www.semuabisnis.com. He added that the key to doing business on Google Adsense is the number of visitors. The more visitors, the greater the profits.
This event will also feature a seminar and talk show (April 22) titled “Utilizing the Internet as a Lucrative Business Medium,” featuring a keynote speaker from Bhinneka.com. In session 2, “Digital Music, Harmony and Technology” with Grahadea, Music Producer, and Arie Ardiansyah, an audio software programmer, will fill the next series of talk shows at the Widyatama University GSG.
As the highlight of the event, the committee will hold a hacking competition with the theme “Web Defacer and Capture Flag” on Saturday (25/4) at the Widyatama University theater. By registering for 50 thousand rupiah, hackers will compete for cash prizes and trophies if they succeed in outperforming other hackers.
