Equipped with Workstations
Widyatama University (UTama) Bandung is one of the universities that pays great attention to its library. One example of this attention is the main library building, named Pustakaloka.
This three-story building, constructed on a plot of land spanning 1,353.33 square meters, has been in operation since 2008. “Initially, all three floors of the building were used for the library. However, the third floor is now utilized by the language institute,” explained UTama Library Director Cucu Hodijah to the editorial team of Republika.

Before occupying the magnificent building, the library was only a room on the second floor of Building B. To keep up with the institution’s development and needs, said Cucu, the library finally occupied a new building in 2008. The new building was inaugurated by the then Chair of the Foundation, Koesbandijah Abdoel Kadir (late). After its inauguration, activities at the library continued to increase.
According to Cucu, the library he manages has a collection of 2,000 book titles. The library uses an automated system. Most of the books support student teaching and learning activities. The number of visitors to this library is quite high. In one month, the number of visitors to this library reaches thousands. “In September 2014, the number of visitors reached 7,000 people. They are students and employees on this campus,” said Cucu. The book collection in this library comes from internal campus procurement. Every year, the campus always buys a number of books according to the needs of students, lecturers, and employees.
In addition to providing books, this library is also equipped with workstation services. This service provides computer facilities that can be used to access digital collections, typing, research, and internet access. Another facility available at this library is a special reading room collection service. The reading room collection can only be read on site. The reserve, reference, and periodical collections may be copied. –Iriska, Republika–
