Widyatama’s existence as a higher education institution that has been established for 43 years has made Widyatama University (UTama) well-known from Sabang to Merauke. This statement was often heard from high school guidance counselors (BK) or their equivalents when they were met at the Guidance Counselor Congress (MGBK) on Friday (15/1).
The congress, held at the POS Indonesia Building on Jalan Banda in Bandung, invited guidance counselors from nearly 34 provinces in Indonesia. This major event is held annually, and in 2016, the city of Bandung was chosen as the home base for this year’s congress.
Various Education Expo stands were also present to enliven the series of events. The expo participants were universities and schools that provided sponsorship or other similar contributions. As a token of appreciation, the committee also provided educational exhibition media for them. UTama was also present as an institution that contributes to the MGBK every year.
The long-standing emotional bond has brought UTama to the peak of its existence. “I hope that UTama can open campuses not only in Bandung but also in our city of Manado. Because we there believe that the UTama campus is also a top campus in the city of Bandung,” said Mrs. Heni, a guidance counselor at SMAN 3 Manado. The brief petition presented by Mrs. Heni shows that the level of trust stakeholders have in UTama as an educational institution is very high, and that it takes the Tridharma of Higher Education seriously.
Additionally, UTama’s campus has been flooded with invitations to attend high schools outside the island, where many alumni from those schools are also studying at UTama. Their positive response as key figures in the field of education brings fresh news for UTama. May this positive image be maintained and nurtured by the university community from generation to generation.
