Commemorating 1000 Days Since the Passing of the Founder of Widyatama

On Friday (January 22), a ceremony commemorating the thousandth day since the passing of the founder of the Widyatama Foundation, the late Prof. Dr. Hj. Koesbandijah Abdoel Kadir, M.S., Ak., CA, was held on Jalan Brantas. At exactly 2:30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, the event began with prayers and tahlil led by Ustad Wawan S., attended by all of the deceased’s relatives and invited guests.

Ustad Dr. Aam Amirudin gave a sermon that added to the solemn and peaceful atmosphere. The history of Widyatama University began with the establishment of the Bandung Accounting Institute (IAB) in March 1973, initiated by the late Prof. Dr. Hj. Koesbandijah Abdoel Kadir, M.S., Ak., CA. In 1976, it opened a Business Management (S1) study program under the name Bandung Management Institute (IMB). The two institutes merged to form the Bandung School of Accounting and Business Management (STAMPB). On September 3, 1979, it changed its name to the Bandung School of Economics (STIEB).

STIEB’s achievements, which were trusted by the wider community, encouraged the Foundation to open other colleges. These colleges were the Bandung Widyatama College of Technology (1995), the Bandung College of Language Studies (1996), and the College of Visual Communication Design (1999). The colleges under the Widyatama Foundation merged to form Widyatama University on August 2, 2001. The late Mrs. Widyatama was both a practitioner and an educator who dedicated her entire life to the world of education with the aim of enlightening the nation’s life. Truly a noble goal.
