Guiding children is not as easy as turning your palm, but with good treatment, children will naturally follow the teachings formed by their own parents. Good coordination between the school and parents is a factor that supports the formation of children’s morals. As a mediator for counseling to replace parents at home, a teacher must work together with parents to produce perfect results.
Alfacentaury High School in Bandung has done something similar. In collaboration with Widyatama University (UTama), Alfacentaury invited the parents of students in grades 10 through 12. The event, held at the Widyatama Auditorium, lasted four days, starting on Tuesday, February 3, 2016. Through a series of events, parents were given guidance on good counseling and the academic development process that occurs in preparation for the ASEAN Economic Community.
“With this event, I understand better that the role of parents is a positive guide in supporting their children’s schooling. Our children are growing up, and the world is becoming increasingly competitive in terms of resources. Managing time has become very important,” said Ujang, a parent of an 11th-grade student at Alfacentaury High School. UTama, as the second organizing partner, strongly supported the series of activities, which is one of the factors contributing to our commitment to serving the community.
