Visit from SMK Negeri 5 Bandung

Tuesday (February 16), for the first time, SMKN 5 Bandung visited Widyatama University (UTama). The purpose of their visit to UTama was to conduct a TOEFL test in collaboration with UTama and the English Study Program. The group arrived at around 7:30 a.m. at the Widyatama parking lot.

The students were immediately directed to the Multipurpose Building, while the teachers were directed to the second floor of the GSG building to receive a briefing from the organizing committee regarding the TOEFL test. The group leader, Mr. Drs. Erwin, M.Pd, as the Counseling Guidance (BK) Coordinator, brought around 412 students consisting of vocational majors. Class advisors and guidance counselors were also present during the TOEFL administration. The arrival of SMKN 5 Bandung was warmly welcomed by the Marketing Bureau staff and Marketing Crew on duty.

The first welcome speech was delivered by the Head of the Marketing Bureau, Mrs. Devy Mawarnie, S.E., M.M., followed by a speech from a representative of SMKN 5 Bandung. “It is a great honor for us, a school in the same sub-district as UTama, to be invited and introduced to the study programs available at UTama. Hopefully, the meeting between these two institutions will not stop here and can be continued,” said Mr. Erwin in his speech. This event was held as part of the institution’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, as well as a form of achievement of the Marketing Bureau’s work program. The maturity of the Visit and Tryout program was a breakthrough for the success of the event. The presence of Mr. Pipin Sukandi, S.E., M.M. (@pipinsukandi) as a motivator was well received by the students who will be taking the National Examination. They were given “advice” in an entertaining manner by the motivator, who is also a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Business and Management.

The purpose of the group’s visit to UTama was to provide an understanding of higher education to vocational school graduates and their equivalents. This is because SMK graduates are often unsure about which university to choose and which major to pursue after graduating from SMK. In addition to providing this understanding, the visit was also used as an opportunity to provide more detailed information about Widyatama University. At the end of the event, the delegation and the visitation committee held a group photo session to foster closer ties and good relations between the two institutions.
