Thursday (7/20) The Faculty of Economics at Widyatama University, in collaboration with the Indonesian Accounting Association (IAI) of West Java, held the 2017 National Accounting and Business Seminar (SNAB-2) at the Widyatama University Multipurpose Building. At exactly 8:30 a.m., the event began with a report from the Chief Executive, Dr. R. Wedi Rusmawan K. S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA. The seminar was officially opened with a speech from the Rector of Widyatama University, Dr. Islahuzzaman., S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA, followed by the striking of a gong by the Rector.
SNAB 2 Widyatama 2017 featured a keynote speaker, namely the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education, represented by Prof. Dr. Bunyamin Maftuh, M.Pd., M.A (Director of Careers and Competence of Human Resources for Science and Technology DIKTI). Also present was the Regent of Garut City, represented by the Regional Assistant I of Garut Regency, who signed an MOA between the Garut Regional Government and Widyatama University covering further studies for Garut Regional Government employees at the Widyatama University Graduate School and Community Service in the form of guidance for village officials on village finances and assets.
The panel session was attended by several speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Nunuy Nur Afiah, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA as Chair of IAI KAPd, Mr. Nicky Hogan as Director of Development at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), representatives from the Financial Services Authority, and Mr. Irwan Mardelis as Public Affairs and Relations from PTTEP Malunda Limited PSC Company.
There were 110 speakers accepted from 33 universities, 13 cities, and 12 provinces, selected from 120 prospective speakers with a target of 100 speakers, as well as 40 non-speaking participants. This was followed by a Focus Group Discussion session on the topic of “KKNI-based curriculum development” with participants from Accounting Study Program Heads throughout Indonesia, with speakers from Belmawa, IAI KAPd, and practitioners.
The role of accountants as an integral part of professional business management has undergone significant development in line with the development of business itself. This national seminar was held in conjunction with the work program of the Faculty of Economics, Widyatama University (UTama). The theme of this seminar was “Accountant Professionalism Towards Sustainable Business Practices”.
The purpose of holding this national seminar is to contribute and provide benefits both in the development of science and for business people in managing their business activities. In addition, there is also a demand for accountants to continue to develop their professionalism, keep pace with the times and circumstances in order to prepare themselves for the era of globalization and sustainable business practices.
“SNAB 2017 is a networking event between universities and government and private institutions, a brainstorming session between universities and the practical world, both government and private institutions, which indirectly enhances the positive image of universities,” said Wedi during the interview.
The organization of this national seminar is an annual event, both nationally and internationally, to create a sustainable academic atmosphere while further strengthening UTama’s existence in the public eye.
