Tuesday (February 4) at exactly 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, the Regional Secretary of West Java, Dr. H. Iwa Karniwa S.E.Ak., M.M.,CA., PIA. gave a public lecture on West Java’s plans for the coming years at the University Introduction Program (PPU) event at the Widyatama Auditorium (GSG) with the theme “Students and West Java Development.”
Iwa conveyed that West Java’s development program is in line with the program launched by President Jokowi, which focuses on improving infrastructure that will increase investment in Indonesia, especially West Java. Of course, this is accompanied by good public services.
Currently, one of the infrastructure projects being developed in West Java, particularly in the transportation sector, is the construction of Kertajati Airport and the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway. “The 140 km distance between Jakarta and Bandung will be covered in 37 minutes,” he said.
Iwa Karniwa gave a public lecture at Widyatama University on Tuesday (4/9) as part of the University Introduction Program.
“The role of students in the development of West Java is expected to be that when infrastructure and investment are already supportive, it will be the students who become the driving force behind Indonesia’s development,” said Iwa in this public lecture. At the end of the public lecture session, the West Java Provincial Government and Widyatama University exchanged souvenirs and took photos together.
In the previous session, PPU participants were treated to a performance by Widyatama Student Ambassadors and an introduction to Widyatama University’s official merchandise, “U Store.” Widyatama Student Ambassadors are selected through several very strict stages with core criteria in terms of both academic and non-academic aspects. Widyatama Student Ambassadors are expected to represent Widyatama University and serve as role models for other students. Additionally, they are expected to develop critical thinking skills and provide responsible service to the university and community while promoting a positive image of the university.

This was followed by a presentation from the Widyatama Career Center by Pipin Sukandi, S.E., M.M., Head of the Widyatama Career Center. Pipin said, “We invite Widyatama students and graduates to take an active role in seeking information about internships and job vacancies after graduating from Widyatama. Currently, the Widyatama Career Center has been appointed by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education as the coordinator of Career Centers throughout West Java, overseeing 4,800 public and private universities.
