Reported by majalahsora.com, Bandung City – 128 students of Universitas Widyatama (Utama) who are residents of Bandung City received Bawaku (Special Mayor’s Assistance) scholarships from Bandung City worth Rp 768,000,000. The funds were transferred to the university’s account in the third week of December 2018.
Regarding this matter, Pawit Watrono, SE., M. M., Head of the Student Affairs Bureau at Widyatama University, told majalahsora.com that the funds had been transferred to the accounts of the scholarship recipients.
“We have given it to the recipient students. They use it to pay tuition fees, buy laptops for final projects, college books, stationery, and others. The campus does not deduct any of the funds. They use it directly according to their needs,” said Pawit, Saturday (2/23/2019) evening in his office.
He further explained that each student received a scholarship of Rp 6 million. Of the total 128 students, 125 were selected based on their academic achievements, while the rest were selected based on their financial status (SKTM or Surat Keterangan Tidak Mampu). This includes students majoring in economics, engineering, business and management, visual communication design, and languages.
“Our campus has received assistance for the second time (in 2017 and 2018). In 2019, we will submit 200 students to receive scholarships from the City of Bandung. The accountability report for the Bawaku scholarship in 2018 has been submitted to the Bandung City Education Office,” explained Pawit.
