Private: Lecturer in Informatics at Universitas Widyatama– Implementing an Interfacing System-Based Application to Determine the Quality of Tilapia and Gurame Fish

In this era of the 4.0 industrial revolution, technology is being used in various fields, one of which is fisheries. Hardware and software can be used to determine the quality of tilapia and gurame fish. The hardware and software, known as application devices, can determine the quality of tilapia and gurame fish. For tilapia and gurame fish commodities for export quality, applications such as those used by lecturers at Universitas Widyatama”s Informatics Department utilize GLCM (Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix) techniques in applications to determine the quality of tilapia and gurame fish.
This application was introduced in a Community Service (PKM) activity at Griya Mandala Permai RW 13, Mandalamekar Village, Cimenyan District, Bandung Regency on Saturday, August 22nd, 2020. GLCM is an image processing technique based on color segmentation or images of fish that will be classified according to quality.

The head of PKM activities, Sukenda, explained, “Indonesia is a country with high export resources in the fisheries sector in Southeast Asia. Therefore, high quality standards are required, so this application was developed to enable fish exporters to speed up the sorting process for fish to be exported.”

“This application can determine the quality of fish through images taken by photographing the fish. The images of the fish must have a white background and then be entered into the application, and the fish will automatically be classified as medium, good, or super quality for export,” added Ari Purno, the application developer.

With the development and introduction of this application, the lecturers participating in the Community Service Program (PKM) in Mandalamekar hope that the community will become more tech-savvy so as not to fall behind neighboring countries that are also fish producers and have already adapted to the current industrial revolution.
