Helping Develop IT-Based Early Childhood Education Quality Management in West Java UTama’s Information Technology Study Program Holds Webinar

The Information Technology Study Program at Widyatama University (UTama) in Bandung held a Community Service (PkM) event on the development of information technology-based quality management in Early Childhood Education (PAUD).

Held virtually, the Webinar Series was conducted via the Google Meet application on Saturday, April 10, 2021.

The theme was “Developing IT-Based Quality Management in Early Childhood Education for Administrators, Principals, Early Childhood Teachers, Lecturers, Students, Practitioners, and the General Public.”

It was attended by 95 participants consisting of principals, early childhood teachers, lecturers, students, practitioners, and the general public.

The enthusiasm of the participants was very high, considering that the webinar capacity was only for 100 participants. They came from Bandung, Bandung Regency, Cimahi City, Garut Regency, Sukabumi, and even from Tangerang, Medan, and other areas.

Regarding this activity, Ai Rosita, ST., MT., a lecturer at the UTama Informatics Study Program, who was also a speaker at the event, said that the webinar, which discussed strategic steps for early childhood education, was a manifestation of the concern of UTama lecturers in their efforts to create quality human resources from an early age.

“Early childhood is the right time to lay the foundations for the development of physical, language, social-emotional, self-concept, artistic, moral, and religious values, which lead to the growth and development of healthy, intelligent, and independent children,” said Ai on Friday (4/16/2021).

He further said that this needs to be addressed carefully by improving the competence of educators with targeted resources, namely support for information technology devices and infrastructure.

In addition to him, there was also another keynote speaker, Dr. Rudiyanto, S.Pd., M.Si., Chair of the West Java HIMPAUDI Regional Board, BAN PAUD and PNF Kemendikbud Assessor, as well as Lecturer in the Early Childhood Education Study Program at the Indonesia University of Education (UPI).

On that occasion, Rudiyanto presented various information that participants needed to understand. Among them was information about the forms of IT utilization for PAUD education units (Dapodik PAUD Application).

Ai also said that there would be follow-up activities. The plan is to provide assistance to partner early childhood education centers in community service activities and create a website with a comprehensive information system.

Ai added that the activities could only be carried out with the financial assistance of LP2M UTama. In these activities, the Informatics Engineering Study Program also involved collaboration between lecturers and students.

“This activity is in line with Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System. This includes Government Regulation Number 2 of 2019 concerning Local Governments’ Obligation to Improve Services for Early Childhood Education. It is hoped that in practice, this will facilitate the professional development of educators and early childhood education personnel, with information technology-based management skills,” concluded Ai.
