Highlighting Language Comprehension and Digital Marketing Issues for MSME Actors in Lembang Widyatama University Presents PKM

The impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which has been raging for almost two years, has greatly affected the economy and the business world in Indonesia.

This is no exception for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Lembang Village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency, West Java Province.

This has forced a change in marketing patterns during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Seeing this condition, producers must rack their brains to be able to market their products or services to consumers as a strategy to survive the COVID-19 pandemic.

Businesses and MSMEs are required to optimize online marketing and digital branding as a means of communication with their target consumers.

In response to this phenomenon, the Community Service (PKM) Cluster Team at Widyatama University (UTama) held an online PKM training session entitled “Strategies for Winning the MSME Market with Social Media in the Digital Age” on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

The event was held in collaboration with the Graduate School, Faculty of Economics & Business, Widyatama University, and the SMEs under the guidance of Lembang Village, Lembang District, West Bandung Regency.

During the event, Astrid Wina Lestari, S.Mn., MSM., was invited to be the guest speaker.

According to Deden, marketing language is essentially a play on words that can attract the attention of potential buyers, so that they are willing to buy the product or use the service being offered.

“Thus, language skills are absolutely necessary for MSME players in using social media. Instead of making a profit, don’t let social media cause us to suffer losses,” said Deden on Tuesday (August 31, 2021) at the UTama Campus, Jalan Cikutra, Number 204-A.

In addition, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has hit many business sectors in the country.

Some business sectors that have the potential to experience a decline in sales are workshops, restaurants, salons, spas, property, mice, tour & travel, hotels, transportation, aviation, malls, fashion, and several other business sectors.

However, Deden noted that there are some business sectors that are likely to remain stable or even see an increase, such as health products needed during the pandemic, e-commerce, minimarkets, grocery stores, pharmacies, herbal medicine stores, internet providers, video conferencing services, home learning apps, and others.
