UNIVERSITAS WIDYATAMA and PWI Journalism Education Institute Explore Cooperation in MBKM Implementation

The Rector of Universitas Widyatama, Prof. Dr. Dadang Suganda, responded positively and agreed in principle to collaborate with the PWI Journalism Education Institute in implementing the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program launched by the government for all students.

The agreement between the two educational institutions was reached during a meeting between the Rector of Widyatama and the Director of the PWI Journalism Education Institute, Ahmed Kurnia Soerawijaya, when Ahmed visited and spoke with Prof. Dr. Dadang Suganda at the Widyatama University campus in Bandung on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022.

On that occasion, Ahmed, who is also a senior journalist, explained the role of the educational institution he leads in responding to the growth and development of the public relations and journalism professions in various agencies and online media throughout Indonesia.

According to Ahmed, this development must be balanced with the emergence of skilled personnel in the fields of public relations and journalism through targeted specialized educational institutions.

Currently, according to the former Tempo Magazine journalist, the PWI Journalism Education Institute in Jakarta has been widely utilized by various government agencies, private companies, and social institutions, including print and online media companies, to educate their employees who work in public relations and journalism.

Meanwhile, the Rector of Universitas Widyatama has expressed interest and readiness to collaborate in order to provide added value to all students by equipping them with additional knowledge and skills to prepare them for life after graduation and entry into the community and business world.

This collaboration is not only beneficial as a place to provide training in the field of journalism to the interested public, but it is also important for students to obtain the Certificate of Accompanying Diploma (SPI) required when they graduate with a bachelor’s degree.

Prof. Dadang Suganda asked the Director of the PWI Journalism Education Institute to immediately submit the proposed collaboration proposal to him for follow-up.
