Convi Co., Ltd CEO Yoshiro Nabeshima Visits Widyatama University Rector. Enhances Internship Program

SABACIREBON – The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) policy on the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program in all universities opens up opportunities for students to take a combination of on-campus and off-campus courses.

In line with the MBKM policy, more and more universities are collaborating with various institutions to provide their students with the opportunity to study outside the campus with multiple benefits.

The process of studying outside the campus is certainly not only dependent on theory, as it can also be done in the form of internships at various companies that are relevant to the academic background of the student.

One such collaboration is carried out by Widyatama University, specifically the Japanese Language Study Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, in the form of an internship program at several companies in Japan.

This collaboration is carried out with Convi Co., Ltd, a migrant worker placement company in Osaka, Japan. In Indonesia, this collaboration is carried out through PT OHM as a representative or affiliate of Convi Co., Ltd.

For Widyatama, the regular placement of students for internships at various companies in Japan through PT OHM is not a new activity. Widyatama and PT OHM have been collaborating on internships since 2018.

Head of the Widyatama FB D3 Program, Aan Amalia, explained that currently 12 students have completed the internship program. Meanwhile, in October 2022, two students will depart to undergo the same program for one year in Japan.

In order to evaluate and strengthen institutional relations in relation to this cooperation, the CEO of Convi Co., Ltd, Yoshiro Nabeshima, along with PT OHM as its representative in Indonesia, held a meeting with the Rector of Widyatama University, Prof. Dr. Dadang Suganda, at the Widyatama Campus, Bandung, on Monday (07/11).

On that occasion, the Rector expressed his hope that the existing cooperation could be enhanced by also involving students from other faculties outside the Japanese Language study program at Widyatama University.

In a dialogue with Yoshiro Nabeshima, which was also attended by Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Wedi Rusmawan Kusumah, Widyatama University Secretary Uning Kuraesin, Head of the Japanese Language Diploma Program Aan Amalia, and Head of the Japanese Language Bachelor’s Program Raden Novitasari, Nabeshima acknowledged that Indonesian internship participants, especially those from Widyatama University, are generally considered to be very good and well-liked by Japanese employers.

However, Indonesian internship participants tend to be too quiet and less aggressive in communication compared to internship participants from other countries.

On that occasion, Prof. Dadang Suganda advised the heads of study programs or deans whose students were participating in the internship program that during their internship program in Japan, they must change their quiet habits and become aggressive, creative, and innovative students in order to accelerate their mastery and proficiency in Japanese.

At the end of the meeting, Convi Co., Ltd CEO Nabeshima also expressed his willingness to facilitate connections between Widyatama University and universities in Japan to foster broader inter-university cooperation.
