(Saturday, July 22nd, 2023) Widyatama University held an Open House and Parents Gathering in an effort to provide prospective students and their parents with a deeper understanding of Widyatama University. Held at the Widyatama University Multipurpose Building, the event began at 8:00 a.m. and was attended by 300 people, consisting of prospective students and their family members, who were accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty and the Head of the Study Program according to their respective majors.
At the opening of the event, all participants of the Open House and Parents Gathering sang the Indonesian national anthem, followed by the screening of a video profile of Widyatama University as an introduction to the invited guests.
The event continued with a presentation by the Rector of Widyatama University, Prof. Dr. H. Dadang Suganda, M.Hum., who explained several achievements of the University, Lecturers, and Students in both academic and non-academic aspects.
“I remind you all not to choose the wrong university because it is at the university that your children’s future will be shaped and determined. Widyatama University is an accredited ‘Excellent’ university, and at Widyatama University, we will provide quality education that students will certainly need to face the world of work in the future,” explained Prof. Dadang.
Also present was Aldri Satria Gusmon, a 2016 alumnus of the Industrial Engineering Study Program, who now serves as Co-Project Manager at PT. Astra Graphia Information Technology (AGIT). Aldri explained several advantages of studying at Widyatama University, one of which is that Widyatama University always supports student activities as long as they are positive and constructive.
Aldri explained that Widyatama University always provides opportunities for anyone to excel. Aldri once served as Widyatama Student Ambassador as Academic Ambassador and Student President for the 2018-2019 period.
“I am someone who moved to Bandung, but here, at Widyatama University, Alhamdulillah, I was given the opportunity and trust to lead students who come from Bandung. This proves that Widyatama University always gives opportunities to anyone, and that has greatly changed and shaped my life so that I am now in this position.”
The next series of events was presented by Dr. Elvine Gunawan, Sp.KJ, a Psychiatrist, who presented the theme of Tips for Success in Choosing a Study Program and Adapting to Campus Life. He explained the importance of choosing a study program, as well as how to build a good relationship between children and parents, and how to resolve conflicts arising from differences in opinion between a child’s interests and talents that are not supported or recommended by their parents.
The event continued with a Student Achievement Showcase, featuring testimonials from outstanding students at Widyatama University who have received several academic and non-academic awards at the local, provincial, national, and international levels.
After all the events concluded, prospective students and their parents could consult with the Program Coordinators (PIC) and faculty members according to the majors they were interested in. It is hoped that both parents and prospective students can confidently choose a program of study that aligns with the child’s interests and talents.
