Acting Head of LLDIKTI IV West Java Banten Agus Supriatna Praises UTama Job Fair Held Every Year to Absorb Job Seekers

Acting Head of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region IV West Java and Banten, Dr. Agus Supriatna, S.Sos., M.Si praised the implementation of the UTama (Widyatama University) Career Job Fair in Bandung, which was held for two days at the UTama Multipurpose Building, Jalan Cikutra No. 204 A, on June 10-11, 2024, from 08.00-16.00.

This is because in this event there were hundreds of job vacancies provided by 41 participating companies.

“It is very good that the Widyatama University Career Center collaborated with 41 companies to bring together job seekers and job providers,” said Agus at the event venue.

Agus, as a representative of the government, also welcomed the UTama Job Fair “Career Day UTama” event.
“The government strongly supports this annual event held by Widyatama University, an accredited university that implements a career center that collaborates with a number of companies to bring together job seekers and employers, which is considered very positive,” said Agus.

According to him, the 2024 Job Fair is in line with government policy, namely Permendikbud Ristek Number 35, which states that universities must always evaluate the learning achievements of their graduates so that their competencies are relevant to the needs of industry and business.

When asked about the challenges facing graduates in this era of disruption and digitalization? He said that college graduates or high school graduates must be digitally literate.

Meanwhile, the Rector of Widyatama University, Prof. Dadang Suganda, fully supports the holding of the 2024 Job Fair. This is because this activity is a strategic step to see the extent to which college and school graduates can adapt to the needs of the market and industry.

According to Prof. Dadang, UTama campus always evaluates its curriculum so that Widyatama University graduates can be easily absorbed by the business and industrial world.

“The university is also prepared if there are competencies that Widyatama students must learn in order to be able to connect with the business world after they graduate,” said Prof. Dadang.

“I agree with the policy that is often discussed, namely that the curriculum is supported by the world of work and industry, and students who enroll are the best practice in the field. Alhamdulillah, the absorption rate of Widyatama graduates can reach 50-60 percent, which means that what we have built is in line with the needs, and the length of time our graduates are unemployed is hopefully no more than three months after they graduate,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Pipin Sukandi, Head of the Career Bureau at Widyatama University and Chair of the 2024 Job Fair Committee, said that this two-day event is a form of commitment to helping job seekers, especially Widyatama University graduates, find employment.

“This job fair is open to the public, targeting high school/vocational school graduates, D1-D4, S1-S3, and of course it is free, but you still have to register at the entrance,” he said.

He added that job seekers are also asked to prepare their CVs in both soft and hard copy formats and to dress neatly before coming to the Job Fair.

According to Pipin, there are several companies that conduct interviews directly on site.

Pipin added that what makes the 2024 Job Fair special is that there are companies that provide opportunities for job seekers with disabilities.
