The Krida Nusantara Nusantara High School team from Bandung won first place in the Quick and Accurate competition at the 2010 Educational English Competition (EEC) held by the Widyatama University English Club Student Activity Unit from March 4 to 6, 2010, in the Seminar Room on the 6th floor of the Widyatama Building in Bandung. Meanwhile, in the same competition, second place was won by the Santa Angela High School team from Bandung, and third place was secured by the Santo Aloysius High School team from Bandung.
The success of Krida Nusantara High School Bandung, with a team consisting of Satrio Dwi Cahyo, Arvin Dito, and Kusuma Wardani, was achieved through hard work, competing with the teams from Santa Angela High School and Santo Aloysius High School to collect points in the quiz competition. At the end of the round, the Krida Nusantara High School team managed to collect 1015 points. Meanwhile, Kevin Margatan from Santo Aloysius High School in Bandung managed to charm the judges and collect the most points in the Story Telling competition (a competition in telling stories using English).
Second and third place in the storytelling competition were won by students from Krida Nusantara High School in Bandung, namely Nuri Handayani and Dewa Ayu Kalyano P. The Singing Contest was won by Aguina from Trinitas High School in Bandung, with second place going to Johanes from Krida Nusantara High School and third place to Dewi R from State High School 2 in Bandung. The Scrabble competition for first and second place was won by the team from Trimulya High School in Bandung, while third place was won by the team from Trinitas High School in Bandung. The 2010 Educational English Competition (EEC) held at the Widyatama campus in Bandung is an annual event organized by the English Club Student Affairs Unit at Widyatama University.
The competition has been held since 2001, with the aim of attracting Widyatama students and high school students to deepen their English language skills. “The English Club at Widyatama is a combination of all students from all majors who are interested in honing their skills and being able to communicate and deepen their understanding of English,” said Alya, Chair of the EEC 2010 Executive Committee. According to Alya, the types of competitions held include Quick and Accurate (quiz), Singing Contest, Story Telling, and Scrabble.
It is hoped that high school students involved in this competition will further hone their foreign language communication skills. Each competition winner will receive a trophy and a cash prize of Rp. 1 million for first place, Rp. 750,000 for second place, and Rp. 500,000 for third place. All winners will receive access to the PMDK program (Interest and Ability Exploration) and the opportunity for a first-year scholarship during the new student admission process at Widyatama University in Bandung.
