The Rapid Development of the Mobile Lifestyle

The development of communication technology in the last decade has indeed been rapid. Communication is no longer limited to hearing voices or sending short text messages; today’s technology allows us to communicate in ways that go beyond just hearing voices. Talking while looking at each other’s faces from different locations is no longer impossible with today’s wireless telephone technology.

One such technology is 3G (from the English: 3rd Generation Technology), which provides better internet connectivity and is currently being developed into the 4th generation, more commonly known as 4G technology. This was the main topic discussed in a talk show titled “Mobile Lifestyle” with speakers Gunadi Dwi Hantoro, Broadband Wireless Researcher at PT Telkom, and Ari Wibowo, Engineer at the Services and Product Planning Laboratory at PT Telkom, which was organized by the Student Association (Hima) of the (prodi) Information Systems at the Faculty of Engineering, Widyatama University, on Monday, May 3, at the Widyatama Auditorium in Bandung.

Currently, many people use this technology, but not many know about the technology itself. In this talk show, we also discussed how Telkom, as a telecommunications company, adopted 3G technology and will develop it into 4G. Meanwhile, as part of the same series of events, a web design competition and animation contest were held, which was attended by high school students from Greater Bandung on Saturday (May 1).

The first winner of the web design competition with the theme “Education” was the team from SMKN 4 Bandung, led by Lukmanul Hakim and Ferry Stephanus. Second place with the theme “Portal Polio” was won by Septian Maulana and Kun Yahya from SMKN 4 Bandung. For the animation competition, with the theme “Queuing Culture,” the work of Sofyan Setiadi and Parlindungan Invacius from SMK Informatika Bandung received the highest points and took first place, followed by the team from SMK Angkasa 1 Bandung, led by Riski Sabastian and Rizki Aljabari, who took second place with the theme of the environment.
