Aklung Toel “Klungto” attracted the attention of visitors at JABAR TIK 2015

Bandung, (May 28, 2015) Information and Communication Technology (ICT) volunteers from all provinces in Indonesia collaborated with the West Java Communication and Information Agency to organize West Java ICT 2015, or more famously known as Jabar ICT. The event, held at Sasana Budaya Ganesha, took place on May 28-29, 2015. Following the success of Jabar TIK 2014, which was held at Gedung Sate in Bandung and coincided with West Java’s anniversary and the soft launch of PORDA JABAR 2016, the event was opened by the Governor of West Java.

This was the second time that the Information Technology Study Program at Widyatama participated in this event. This year, there was something different about the Information Technology Study Program at Widyatama’s presentation. Students and lecturers representing the Study Program brought one of their best works, a prototype of a traditional electronic aklung musical instrument. The enthusiasm of the visitors was focused on this angklung toel, and even the Minister of Research and Technology (Menristek) greatly appreciated the existence of Angklung Toel. This is a great achievement for Widyatama students in creating an innovation by combining traditional art with the science and technology (IPTEK) they have learned in college.

“This work has received many offers, even up to hundreds of millions of rupiah. However, we want to perfect it further by creating several innovative products,” said Yogi, a student from Widyatama’s Information Technology Department. In fact, this year Widyatama University won the nomination for Best Booth, and as an appreciation, the Klungto was presented in front of the invited guests who attended the event.
