Outdoor Learning and Discussion Facilities Facilities and infrastructure are one of the important factors that support teaching and learning activities in an institution. In addition to modern learning methods, the availability of supporting facilities also provides a sense of comfort for students in particular.
The many positive responses from invited guests, both domestic and international, indicate that Widyatama University (UTama) is one of the universities that pays close attention to cleanliness. “We were very happy to visit UTama. The campus is clean and has many spots for holding discussion forums between lecturers and students, or among students themselves,” said Azizah, a student at the University of Technology Mara Malaysia, during an industrial visit to Widyatama University.
UTama’s consistency in prioritizing cleanliness is also a mandate from UTama’s founding mother, Prof. Dr. Hj. Koesbandijah Abdoel Kadir, S.E., M.Si., Ak (Alm). She was very concerned about and prioritized cleanliness. The saying “Cleanliness is part of faith” became the basis for her strong emphasis on cleanliness. When cleanliness is maintained, comfort is also created.
The provision of discussion facilities is one of the factors contributing to student comfort when studying outside the classroom. This is evident in the construction of the C building garden, K building, and the latest discussion room next to the Loka Library building. These alternatives are a positive initiative to encourage students to explore their creativity and thinking. They provide fresh air, a comfortable atmosphere, and a clean environment for students to study outside the classroom. The increase in the comfort index is evident from the large number of students studying outside the classroom, whether working on assignments or preparing their final projects. During the day, in particular, almost all external discussion facilities are filled with students discussing or simply joking around while waiting for lectures.
The continuous development of infrastructure carried out by UTama is an achievement aimed at stakeholder satisfaction. Additionally, this ongoing effort is also implemented to support UTama’s focus on the Tri Dharma of Higher Education within the Widyatama environment.
