Approximately 120 students and 6 supervising teachers from State Senior High School 6 Garut visited Widyatama University again during the Visit Widyatama event, which was intended to provide students with comprehensive information and firsthand experience of the learning atmosphere at Widyatama University. The group was received by the Marketing Office of Widyatama University in the Seminar Room on the 4th floor of Building A on Thursday (19/10).
At exactly 9:00 a.m., the event began with remarks from the Head of the Marketing Bureau of Widyatama University and a representative from SMA Negeri 6 Garut, Mr. Sarip Hidayatullah, M.Pd. After several ice breaking and small games about Widyatama University, the atmosphere became even more lively. Several souvenirs were distributed to friends who actively paid attention and answered questions from the MC.
The students were given information about Widyatama University by Promotion Staff Fikri Alwi Hasan, AMd, who was greeted with enthusiastic applause.
To lighten the mood, the students who will participate in the National Selection for State Universities (SNMPTN) were treated to a motivational seminar to get them excited about the SNMPTN. The seminar was led by Pipin Sukandi, S.E., M.M., a lecturer at the Faculty of Business & Management at Widyatama University who also serves as the Head of the University’s Career Center. “In facing any challenge, everything can be overcome with positive thinking and a high level of optimism,” Pipin said during the seminar.
The visit by Garut State High School is an annual event due to the excellent relationship between the school and Widyatama. During the break, the MC challenged the students to give quotes about Widyatama University with the Widyatama photo booth as the background.
The event continued with a campus tour. The students were invited to visit several faculties, where they were welcomed by the deans and study program coordinators.
At the Faculty of Languages, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Visual Communication Design, the group was welcomed by lecturers and several active students who presented some of the students’ work, such as sketches of faces by DKV students, robotic spiders, smart home concept models, and smart parking by students of the Informatics Engineering Study Program. Students freely communicated with lecturers and students about the learning process and the production process of these student works. Some students were also invited to play games created by Engineering Faculty students.
At the end of the campus tour, the group was invited to visit several locations on campus, such as the Integrated Library Building, the Student Activity Center Building, the IMac Practicum Room in the Faculty of Visual Communication Design, and the Ergonomics Practicum Room of the Industrial Engineering Study Program. The tour ended with a group photo in front of the Main Hall Plaza, which is the icon of Widyatama University.
