The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Shanghai, China, Dr. Siti Nugraha Maulidiah, MIA, gave a public lecture in the Seminar Room on the 4th floor of Building A at Universitas Widyatama (19/2). The public lecture, themed “China, The Giant Panda,” was organized by the Faculty of Languages at Universitas Widyatama. In her presentation, the woman who is fondly known as Nining conveyed the excellent work ethic of the Chinese people. China, which previously built its image in the international community with “Made in China,” is now building a different image, namely “Innovate in China.”
The Chinese work ethic is indeed very good and superior to many other work ethics. Although everyone has their own work principles, it would be good for us to use the work ethic of our neighbors as a reference so that we can be more successful when we understand how the Chinese work, which is most notable for its discipline and hard work. When working, they have clear targets, she added.
According to Nining, Indonesians actually have a strong work ethic, but most prefer agricultural businesses such as farming. Meanwhile, the Chinese are more skilled in various types of business.
“For example, Chinese people often have their children work as cashiers, so from an early age they are trained to be thrifty and work hard. In other words, there is no such thing as a free lunch,” said Nining.
