The role of the media as a disseminator of factual information was thoroughly examined at the Widyatama Civitas Academica Journalism Training held by Komunita Widyatama on June 8, 2018, in the Theater Room on the 6th floor of Building B at Widyatama University. Komunita is a communication medium owned by the Widyatama Foundation to convey various forms of Widyatama activities to internal and external parties in the form of a community magazine.
Nugroho Hardiyanto, as the editor-in-chief, stated that the purpose of this activity was for the academic community to gain additional knowledge on interview techniques and writing in accordance with EYD (Standard Indonesian Spelling).

On this occasion, Erwin Kustiman, deputy editor-in-chief of Pikiran Rakyat, presented journalistic material on the theme of “Writing Opinion Articles in the Mass Media.” Various writing tips were openly shared, ranging from writing effective press releases, avoiding writer’s block, writing popular articles, to editing manuscripts.
Dozens of participants attended this training, including lecturers and students. Recognizing the resurgence of literacy initiatives, the Widyatama Foundation organized this event to build the brand image of Widyatama University and counteract the spread of hoaxes, which are currently being disseminated with alarming ease.
