The FTV Channel Widyatama extracurricular program was officially launched by the Film and Television Study Program (Prodi FTV), FISIP, Widyatama University (UTama), Jalan Cikutra No. 204-A, on Saturday (May 29, 2021).
Head of the FTV Study Program, Budiman, Drs., M.M.Pd., explained that the launch of this program is one of the implementations of the Kampus Merdeka (Independent Campus) program, which was initiated by Nadiem Makarim, Minister of Education and Culture.
The scope of the FTV Channel Extracurricular Program includes managing and producing digital media content, such as web portals, TV programs, and film content on YouTube and social media platforms.
For the first batch, there were 23 participants. They consisted of 18 students from the FTV Study Program, 2 students from the Library and Information Science Study Program, 2 students from the DKV Graphic Design Study Program, and one student from the Economic Management Study Program.

During the launch of the FTV Channel program, participants received training on managing the FTV Channel information portal and techniques for writing popular articles, delivered by FTV lecturer Kenmada Widjajanto, S.Sos., M.Ikom.
“The participating students will undergo a learning process, managing digital media, which includes three activities: managing an information portal, managing TV programs, and managing films on YouTube,” said Budiman during the event.
He further explained that the FTV Channel Program will run with a minimum participation period of one year. Then, in the following year, it will be followed by different participants.
When launching the program, he advised the participants of the FTV Channel program to follow it seriously while still paying attention to their existing lecture schedules.

Meanwhile, Simphony, a student from the FTV study program who participated in the program, explained her reasons for joining the Widyatama FTV Channel extracurricular activity. She wanted to gain more experience and fill her free time with activities that would broaden her knowledge. Similar to Simphony, Meisya and Halialtul from the Library and Information Science study program were interested in joining the FTV Channel program because they wanted to gain knowledge and experience.
The Dean of Visual Communication Design (DKV), Deden Maulana, Drs., M.Ds., who was also present, encouraged the FTV Channel Widyatama to be beneficial, especially for the participating students. This is particularly important for improving personal abilities and skills, as well as building a portfolio.
In today’s era, according to the Dean, who always wears a traditional cap, a portfolio is a very important asset when facing the real world of work.
On the same occasion, while giving his closing remarks, the Dean of FISIP Widyatama, Dr. Soni A. Nulhaqim, S.Sos., M.Si., advised students participating in the FTV Channel Widyatama program to use it as a positive means of developing networks and gaining experience in producing various digital, TV, and film content.

Management of FTV Channel Widyatama
At the same time, the Widyatama FTV Channel Organization was immediately formed. Soerachman Dwiwaloejo, a student majoring in FTV, was elected as the leader of the first batch.
It should be noted that Soerachman will serve as the leader of the Widyatama FTV Channel organizing committee. He will be assisted by other members.
Next, the FTV Channel Widyatama management team will immediately begin working, designing various activity agendas to activate all the media platforms under their management.
