Pratama Media News, Bandung City, Tuesday (January 31st, 2023) – Community Service (Abdimas) in 2023, the team of lecturers from the Information Systems Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Widyatama University (Fakultas Teknik UTama) collaborated with the Security Unit (Satpam) of the Cluster Garden Villas Pinus Regency neighborhood in RT 06 RW 08, Babakan Penghulu Village, Cinambo District, Bandung City.
According to the Head of the UTama Lecturers’ Community Service Implementation Team, Ucu Nugraha, S.T., M.Kom., the community service activity, themed “Satpam Bijak Bersosial Media” (Wise Security Guards on Social Media), aimed to educate security guards in the housing complex to be more prudent in using social media because information technology and social media were created to assist and facilitate people’s daily activities.

“There are several smart tips for using social media, such as not easily sharing information whose accuracy is uncertain or issues related to ethnicity, religion, race, and intergroup relations (SARA), being careful in sharing posts, take advantage of the positive side of social media, always maintain language ethics, follow inspiring people, build connections, and be able to restrain or control emotions,” said the Head of the UTama Lecturer Community Service Implementation Team, who also serves as the Head of Research and Community Service at the Widyatama University Research, Community Service & Intellectual Capital Institute (LP2M UTama).
The Abdimas activity held on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023, is one of the Tridharma activities for lecturers and students. Usually, this kind of activity is carried out regularly, at least twice a year.
This activity involved three lecturers and two students, namely Endang Amalia, S.T., M.M., Dani Hamdani, S.Kom., M.T., Muhammad Benny Chaniago, S.T., M.Kom., Derby Auransyah Pratama Putra, and Putri Luthfiani Suryana.

This outreach activity was attended by the Head of RT 06 RW 08, Babakan Penghulu Village, Cinambo District, Bandung City. According to the Head of RT 06, Irman Sutris, this activity was very beneficial for security guards working in his neighborhood. Security guards can utilize social media to assist them in their daily tasks without compromising their authority and dignity.

“On behalf of the neighborhood association, we are very grateful and would like to express our thanks for the implementation of this socialization activity for security officers. We hope that security guards can use social media wisely, without forgetting their duties, authority, and dignity as the front line in maintaining security and order in the Cluster Garden Villas Pinus Regency RT 06 RW 08 neighborhood. We hope that activities like this will not stop here and that the cooperation will continue,” concluded Irman.
