The Information Technology Study Program (Prodi) at Widyatama University (UTama) Bandung held a Community Service (PkM) activity at the Karanganyar Village Office, Astanaanyar District, Bandung City, on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The event carried the theme “Enhancing Digital Literacy & IT Awareness.” It was initiated by lecturers from the research cluster, namely Esa Fauzi, S.T., M.T., Sy. Yuliani, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D, Azizah Zakiah, S.kom., M.T., and Dr. Yenie Syukriyah, S.Si., M.Si. Also included were Information Technology students Asena Tribanyu Begawan, Gilang Yuzka Fasya, Muhammad Rizaldy Alfarez, and Bima Pramadavin.
Participants included residents of Karanganyar Village, youth organizations, students, practitioners, and the general public, with sub-topics that are important in today’s digital era, especially in the field of education.
The material was delivered by Esa Fauzi, S.T., M.T., and Sy. Yuliani, S.Kom., M.T., as lecturers from the UTama Informatics Study Program. On the same occasion, students consisting of Asena Tribanyu Begawan, Gilang Yuzka Fasya, Muhammad Rizaldy Alfarez, and Bima Pramadavin presented other materials.
In this PkM activity, the presenters provided education on digital learning and technology, digital literacy for education and society today, tips for overcoming challenges and threats in the cyber world in the digital era.
“The importance of cyber security awareness is for the public to understand that internet security is important and must be recognized by the community. In particular, security regarding personal data and creating a good personal brand in the cyber world, as well as being aware of the spread of false information,” said Sy. Yuliani, S.Kom., M.T., Thursday (January 19th, 2023).

Yuliani added that this issue needs to be addressed carefully by educating the general public on how to use the internet safely and comfortably.
She continued that this community service program also serves as a forum for sharing knowledge and skills related to the use of information technology in education and other activities, at a time when hoaxes and social media hacking are raging.
“It is hoped that this event can increase digital literacy and educate the public about digital literacy,” said Yuliani.
From observations during the event, participants responded positively and enthusiastically. This was evident from the feedback provided by participants, who found the event very helpful in adapting effective learning to information technology.
Yuliani also revealed that the PkM activities of the UTama Informatics Engineering Study Program could be held thanks to the good cooperation between the UTama academic community and the Head of Karanganyar Village, Atim Supriatim, S.Pd, and Yuningsih S.Kom., M.AP., as representatives of Karanganyar Village.
“The implementation of this activity is also inseparable from the financial assistance from LP2M UTama,” he concluded.
