Bandung, February 26, 2024 – Widyatama University held a Local Culture Introduction Program that aims to introduce the richness of Indonesian culture to international students. The event was held on Wednesday (26/2) and was attended by 14 foreign students, consisting of 13 students from Timor Leste and 1 student from the Philippines, who come from various study programs and batches at Widyatama University.
In an effort to bring foreign students closer to Indonesian culture, especially Sundanese culture, the series of events began with a welcome session and sharing session with the Rector of Widyatama University, Prof. Dr. H. Dadang Suganda, M.Hum. and foreign students who are currently studying at the campus. In this session, the students shared their experiences and expectations during their studies at Widyatama University.

After the opening session, participants were invited to visit Batik Komar, one of the most famous batik production centers in Bandung. Here, they had the opportunity to see firsthand the batik-making process and try their hand at stamping and writing techniques. The excitement grew as foreign students got creative and made their own batik motifs.

The cultural journey continued to Saung Angklung Udjo, a famous Sundanese arts and culture center. Here, they were invited to explore the beauty of Sundanese culture through various performances, such as wayang golek (puppet show), Sundanese songs, dances from various regions, kacapi suling (traditional musical instrument), traditional games, and traditional Sundanese ceremonies. The international students were enthusiastic as they interacted directly with the arts and culture, which are rich in philosophy and local wisdom.
Through this activity, Widyatama University hopes to strengthen the relationship between international students and Indonesian culture, especially Sundanese culture. More than just an experience, this program serves as a bridge for international students to understand and appreciate the cultural diversity that exists in Indonesia.

The event ended with a reflection and discussion session, where participants shared their impressions. Many of them expressed their admiration for Sundanese culture and felt closer to the community and the surrounding environment.
Widyatama University is committed to continuing to provide programs that support the learning experiences of international students while introducing the beauty of Indonesian culture to the world.
