Bandung – Thursday, October 2nd 2025 Coinciding with National Batik Day, the Innovation & Academic Corporation (INKOPA) of Widyatama University held two major events at the Universitas Widyatama Campus in Bandung, organized by Prof. Dr. Keni Kaniawati, S.E., M.Si. The events included a workshop on strategies for accelerating academic careers and increasing article publication productivity to achieve professorship, as well as an exhibition of products from MSMEs under the asistance of the university, with the main theme being batik as a cultural identity and modern lifestyle.
INKOPA- Assisted MSMEs Workshop and Exhibition
The head of the INKOPA bureau, Mrs. Keni, explained that this activity had two main focuses, which were training and an exhibition of batik-based MSME products.
“Because this workshop coincides with National Batik Day, INKOPA is holding two events. The first is this workshop, and the second is National Batik Day, so we have mentored MSME craftsmen, especially those working in batik,” said Ms. Keni.
“Batik is not just worn as fashion, but we are also increasing loyalty to wearing culture, and batik culture has gone international, so every formal or informal event will definitely feature batik because batik is one of the simplest forms of fashion, and if we look here, each design has its own uniqueness,” said Prof. Dr. Keni Kaniawati, S.E., M.Si, Head of the INKOPA Bureau, during an interview at the event.

MSMEs Exhibition: From Fabric, Shoes, to Batik Accessories
During this three-day exhibition, visitors can see various batik-based products from MSME players under INKOPA’s asistance. These products include not only clothing and fabrics, but also shoes, bags, and accessories featuring batik motifs typical of various regions.
“Here we see that each of the buildings has its own uniqueness. Maybe later you can see the batik exhibition here, and for the next three days (October 2nd-4th, 2025) we will still be here, not only clothing or materials because there are also shoes and accessories, all batik-based,” explained Keni while inviting visitors to see the craftsmen’s work firsthand.

Widyatama University’s Students are Celebrating National Batik Day
Interestingly, National Batik Day was also enthusiastically welcomed by Widyatama University students, who simultaneously wore batik clothing. This was a source of pride for INKOPA, considering that batik has now reached across generations.
“I am very happy, as you may have seen earlier, Widyatama students wore batik clothes on National Batik Day. Batik used to be associated with older people, but now that is no longer the case because batik is creative and innovative, with designs that are in line with current trends, so even young people and children wear batik clothes,” she said.
Keni added that the variety of batik materials and designs currently available is also increasingly variable, adapting to a broader market segment. “The materials are also varied. Here, you can see batik for the youth segment, as well as formal, official, and semi-formal batik,” he said.
Maintaining Culture, Developing Creativity
Through this activity, INKOPA and Widyatama University hope to raise awareness among the younger generation about the importance of maintaininh local culture while developing creativity in the batik industry.
