Administrators from around 58 BUMDes (Village-Owned Enterprises) in Bandung district, took part in a taxation workshop / training at the Widyatama University (UTama), Jalan Cikutra No. 204 A.
Conducted in two days (7-8 November 2019) as they participated in the activities organized by the Widyatama Faculty of Economics, in collaboration with the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Directorate General of Tax (DJP) of West Java I and the Government of Bandung Regency (Office of Community Empowerment).
This event purposed to provide knowledge, so BUMDes officials went literate and understand taxation.
Prof. H. Obsatar Sinaga, rector of Widyatama University, who commenced the event, told the media crew that tax training was one of the ways to penetrate insights into the public.
“We want the public understand that paying taxes is a must,” said Prof. Obi, Thursday (11/07/2019).
“Only for today, it is focused and directed at BUMdes, so in the future will not be affected by the obligation to pay taxes,” he added.
Furthermore, said Prof. Obi, with the training they received, it turned out that there were BUMDes obligations that must be paid to the state.
“We deliberately invite them. This activity is a part of the Widyatama University community service program, in collaboration with DJP Jabar I Regional Office and Bandung Regency Government,” he explained.
It is important to know that recently many BUMDes receive fresh funding from the state and that has tax on it.
When the people are aware of paying taxes, it leads to additional income for the country.
“We consciously want this country progress. If we are not aware of paying taxes, how could we build this country?” said Prof. Obi.
At the same occasion, Oki Rusdiar Kasmir Putra, Section Head of Guidance and Document Management for the DJP Regional Office of West Java I Region, explained that many BUMDes that did not have a NPWP (tax number), did not know how to report, calculate and pay taxes.
As for this reason, it was hoped by this tax training, BUMDes management in Bandung Regency in particular might comprehend and aware in carrying out their tax obligations.
“They have not paid taxes because of their ignorance, they have to carry out taxation like what they pay the tax like and others,” Oki said.
When the media crew asked why it was conducted at Widyatama University, he explained that his management was collaborating with various campuses that had tax centers, including Widyatama.
In addition, Widyatama University had a program to educate BUMDes in tax training.
By this event, it was hoped that state funds would be saved with trillions of rupiah in the region of West Java I BJP Regional Office, one of which was from the BUMDes tax sector.
